Springer Spaniels

I know this has got nothing to do with working cocker spaniels but as I can’t find any in Australia I was wondering if anybody knows a good breeder of springer spaniels (working stock) over here? I’ve decided Joey needs a mate other than the cat.

My experience with retrievers is that you can breed to the show stock, but the litter may not have working characteristics you want.

In golden retrievers, you have to do this every few generations, because the working lines are not that diverse in terms of their gene pools.

Strangely, I don’t know of anyone who has the show version of the ESS. They are all working stock.

    Hi,
I have a male (not de-sexed) male working cocker spaniel!!! Did you ever find a female?

(my dog is kennel club registered with all pedigree papers (I take it Joey is boy?)

I hope you manage to find a companion to Joey. We have two english cocker bitches and they are inseperable. Definitely a breed that benefits in having a friend to burn off the energy with!
    Good luck with your search

    Thank you and best wishes

After I initially left a comment I seem to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments
are added- checkbox and from now on each time a comment is added I get four emails with the exact same comment.
Perhaps there is a means you are able to remove me from that service?
    Thanks a lot!
